Medical Animatics, Inc. was founded January 1, 2005 by graduates of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis School of Informatics, New Media Arts & Sciences program. Driven by a passionate pursuit to develop career opportunities for university graduates with demonstrated skills in media arts, Harlon Wilson & Kurtis Rush made it a personal challenge to establish Medical Animatics, Inc. as a leader in scientific and medical visualizations.
Together, Mr. Wilson & Mr. Rush have quickly led the Medical Animatics, Inc. team towards rapid success. The successful emergence from building the foundation in year one into accelerated growth that is currently under way in year two is demonstrative of the firm’s ability to deliver cutting-edge media technologies. The continual rise in new business opportunities empowered only by referrals is a testament to client satisfaction.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed a career as a leader in the medical software industry for over 14 years before returning to school to gain additional hands-on expertise in newly emerging technologies. The combination of his leadership expertise, his familiarity with the healthcare industry, and his in-depth knowledge of media arts and computer sciences formed his direction for MAI. His academic achievements included graduating with highest honors and receiving the Top-10 Student Award. He is also a Golden Key Honor Recipient and has received numerous leadership and mentorship awards. He is a proud participant of the Mayor’s Cultural Districts Council among other community organizations.

Ms. Lentz brings 14 years of leadership in the distance learning industry to the Medical Animatics, Inc. team. With specialized expertise in content development for healthcare, K-12 education, and informal learning environments, Ms. Lentz has created products and services that assist clients with the integration and utilization of video communication technologies. She has extensive experience planning, writing, and implementing state and federal grants, serves on the Executive Committee for the Indiana Council for Economic Education and other cultural and community organizations, was a founding Board member of the Indiana Distance Learning Association, and speaks nationally on topics relating to distance education and telehealth.

Mr. Rush brings his imaginative vision to every project. His unique approach to creativity and his mastery of skills in illustration, graphic design, 2D/3D animation, video production, and streaming video content development allow Mr. Rush to serve as an extraordinary mentor to the MAI team. His previous position as Logistics Manager for a leading Fortune 500 company has proven to be a valuable asset in his current position as supervisor of project delivery at MAI. His academic accomplishments include: Graduated Highest Honors, Golden Key International Honors Society, and National Dean’s List.

In addition to her focused studies in animation and media design, Ms. Shankel has fortified her media expertise with a special area of study in application design and computer programming. As Lead Animator, Ms. Shankel’s talents are applied in a wide variety of ways including 2D & 3D animation, digital video, website design and development, and motion graphic compositing. Ms. Shankel’s passion for 3D and multimedia development began nearly 5 years ago and continues to grow as she applies her talent both professionally and artistically. Her expertise and creativity has earned her the Best in Show award in the Academic Visualization category at Vision Fest 2005.

Her expertise in medical malpractice litigation is paramount in the production of Patient Informed Consent Media Applications (PICMA) and assures an adequate amount of risk management for each respective program. Ms. Jenkins’ academic and professional careers bring MAI a rich heritage of distinguished authority and practical global experience.

Ms. Renguette brings her academic and career experience in Technical Communication to MAI. Her academic experience includes developing and teaching both online and face-to-face courses in Technical Communication and English as a Second Language at Ball State University, Ivy Tech State College, and IUPUI. Her career experience includes consulting, editing, and writing for a variety of companies in the Indianapolis area. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at Ball State University. Her areas of interest include learning theories, language acquisition, teacher training, professional development, and problem-based learning.

Mr. Lerch’s diverse background includes a combination of Chemistry, computer programming, and database design that has given him extensive experience with SQL and databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. Mr. Lerch has also developed applications for database manipulation, analysis, and data reporting. His project work includes Information Management System development for laboratory environments, image format standardization, and workflow automation. He constantly strives to increase productivity and accuracy of data through database analysis and computer programming. He is currently pursuing his M.S. in Chemical Informatics, with an emphasis on Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) applications, at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis, School of Informatics.

Advisory Council Representative - Nutrition, Dietetics, Wellness Programming
Master of Science, Nutrition, Oregon State University
Ms. Loghmani's teaching experiences include a variety of settings and students. She has taught nutrition to other health professionals, including medical residents, dietetic interns, dietitians, as well as to patients and their families. Through her appointment as Nutrition Coordinator of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) funded Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Program, she has lectured on the promotion of adolescent health, nutrition management of adolescents with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and management of weight issues and eating disorders to pediatricians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and dietitians. She has conducted numerous presentations and workshops on adolescent nutrition in the community and has developed content for online modules for the Indiana State Board of Education and an MCH funded program for pediatric nutrition. She is accomplished at translating medical information into educational experiences that are age and culturally appropriate for her audiences.
